Samarpan had the privilege of conducting a De-addiction Counselling Workshop for the MA Lifespan Counselling program students at St. Xavier’s College. The session was facilitated by our Chief Clinical Officer, Obi Unaka, and Clinical Psychologist, Raksha Rajesh, who shared practical insights from an addiction therapist’s perspective.
In the workshop, we explored therapeutic approaches used in addiction treatment, ways to build trust and create safe, non-judgmental spaces, and the real-world challenges clinicians face while supporting recovery. Our goal was to blend theory with lived clinical practice, helping students understand the skills and empathy needed to guide individuals on their de-addiction journey.
We were inspired by the enthusiasm, curiosity, and thoughtful engagement of the second-year Master’s students. Their questions reflected not only a strong academic foundation but also a genuine passion for making a meaningful difference in people’s lives.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to St. Xavier’s College for inviting us and to the students for their openness and commitment to learning. Collaborations like these are essential in bridging academic learning with clinical expertise, shaping future therapists who are ready to lead with compassion, skill, and integrity.
